Is there a ready made filter for this?

In Avid Liquid I had a filter called "Dissolve thru Color".

This was a transition where you could select a colour (default was black) to put between clips. This filter made the clip go via a colour by disolves. You could make this white and very short to look like a flash gun going off between the clips. You often see this effect on TV.

I think I could make one by using a colour matte and dissolves, but is there a ready made one in Edius I could use or adapt and save?

The bundled PROdad plugin can do this (so can some the NewBlueFx plugins)

No they are both - they will show up in both sections in Edius

Sometimes the Prodad icon is placed in a weird place under the transistions section so if you can't initially see it had a GOOD look over the folders there
