in multicam mode, in the situation where some camera pause in between recording, will it sync accordingly with the timecode by automtically inserting gap between 3 cam?

It depends on what multicam sync mode is set. In Timecode sync mode, it will line up clips by matching timecode.

EDIUS doesn't know which clip belongs to which virtual camera, so it will add each clip and align it as it each was a separate camera.

            Well, there's an 8-camera limit...
If you already have some clips you can test with, just download the demo and give it a try.

Yes, you can still use multicam.

All the clips from a particular camera should be put on the same video line.

I don't have enough clips to check this myself, so I will just walk you through.

Are you using EDIUS v4? If so...
                    1. Switch to Multi Cam mode (default F8)
                    2. Assign a track to C1
                    3. Assign another track to C2
                    4. Select Mode > Sync point > Timecode
                    5. Select a number of clips in the Bin
                    6. Drag the clips from the Bin to the timeline

This is going to be a huge project no mater what software you use. If all cameras had their timecode synced to a master clock it will be "less" of a project, but trouble none-the-less.

Tape is cheap, let the cameras run.

If your cameras have free-run capability, just make sure to reset all TC to 0 for all cams, then switch on freerun. You might be off one or a couple of frames after capture, but at least you're close to the source and you can match it with audio (Or photo flashes if available).

so if I use a normal cam without freerun

I use edius to do the multitracking editing

Do u guys thinnk it is ok

Of course you can Multicam any footage. I think SD is after a smoother workflow for future jobs.

With your camera operators going on/off throughout the program, it won't make your job any easier.
