Could you find another HDV camera or deck to try? Another program to capture with?

Anton, I had a similar problem a few years ago with my Sony TRV900E, jiggle the firewire cable, hold it in a certain position and it eventually worked. Finally nothing worked. Had it repaired, and found out it was the firewire port on the camera that was the broken.

Was going to suggest capturing your footage with HDVSplit - I use it to ingest my footage off of my HC7's - it will scene detect and split your clips accordingly as well - google it and see if it can capture the HDV footage that way. Free utility and no installer - just unzip and run the executable - best little utility for us Tape shooters still shooting HDV.

I have the FX7E and this is what is needed

          Try this

          MAKE SURE CAMERA IS OFF
          DISCONNECT FIREWIRE LEAD
          TURN ON CAMERA

          IN MENU > SET CAMERA
          i. LINK CONV to OFF (this is why you are only capturing in SD, the camera is set to down covert, when ON)
SET VCR HDV/DV TO HDV (Edius sometimes won't detect in AUTO)

PLUG CABLE BACK IN TO CAMARA AND COMPUTER
          TURN ON CAMERA

          START EDIUS
          TRY TO CAPTURE THEN
          YOU WANT TO MAKE PROJECT
          1080i at 50i
footage from the FX7E is 1440x1080i 50i in HDV

I did ll that many times

the reason why I set Conv mode to on is because that is the only way to get anything off the camera, the camera is gone now

I prefer my workflow with XDCAM HD where I simply copy and paste a 90min XDCAM disk in 15min :)

              Sorry to hear that
my FX7E works fine well at least with 5.12 not gone to 5.5 yet but assume no change.

maybe this a win 7 x64 issue, currently on vista x64
