Burn to DVD stangeness

I have made quite a few DVDs from the timeline to check chapters, etc.
They have been fine. Now, yesterday, when trying to burn the latest program of 1 hr 20 minutes, I see the "time remaining" run up to 22 hrs!!...This is an SD project.

Needless to say, I abort, which chokes the program and I have to reboot Edius...Not good! This has now happened twice...frustrating.

I also cannot seem to get the style to reflect my chapters (all made with the timeline markers) even though I do pick a menu style with several chapters...I am (I admit) confused by the choices offered to set up a playback with or without menus, etc. (the radio buttons)...any step by step tutorial available that I might have missed?...

Is it possible I screwed up the settings? If so, any way to reset them without reloading in Edius? I am using Edius 5.5.

Try to let it run. I think you will see that the time will drop and you will not sit there 22.hrs

One of the main things to remember with chapters dont assign the first one Disc Burn will do it for you and call it chapter 1 you can then rename it if you wish
If you have more than 1 sequence they will all appear on Title menu if you add each sequence to initial settings and each one will have chapters of their own

I got the DVD to burn in a normal amount of time...after restarting the project it went fine.

I was running it from the time line and put in sequence markers on the time line, but was unable to get any chapters to appear on the menu.

make sure show menu is selected in the final output options

I redid my output project and reset newly made sequences on a timeline. added markers and am again able to see chapters on the menu. I can only guess there was something quirky about the other timeline. Burning a DVD as we speak...

One other quick question...how do you choose which menu item (i.e. "Chapter One," "Play Movie," etc.) gets highlighted on the menu page?

the DVD Creator is a very basic tool, you can't customize much

a dedicated authoring software will give you 100 times more options

I agree, Anton, and i know there are many limitations to DVD Creator.

but it would be nice if the default highlight would be on Play Movie.
