Plug in for effect missing, this is not the problem

Can anyone please help?

System PC, XP Pro, ATI Radion 3600 video card, Edius 5.5, Quad core Q9540, 3G Ram, 1TB prog hdd, 2 x 2TB data hdd's. 2TB esata hdd. Mobo Gigabyte Extreme E45.

The problem is upon opening 5.5 I get the following notification. Plug in for the effect currently used by the timeline was not found. Replaced with dummy effect.

All effects are on the timeline, but the player window shows the desktop screen and the source is black, when I put a clip in it it shows white, flashing black. The player window just remains white with alternate black flashing.

That's what it does, I have the latest video card drivers.

can you start a new project and see if that works fine

in regards to your error, maybe one of your 3rd party effects plugins got lost

which 3rd party ones do you have or did have when the project was created?

There are 2 reasons why this can happen:
1 Something might have gone wrong with a thirdparty pluging upon upgrading to 5.5.
"solution" Reinstall thirdparty plugings.


2This can happen when you have a certain number of Thirdparty plugins installed. It is currently under investigation. The thirdparty effect will bring up that message but will show up installed if you browse through the folders on of you installation on Harddisk.
"temporary solution" uninstall any thirdparty effects you have installed but don't use.
