  • Vistitle on Win7 Pro and Edius 5.5

I am running Vistitle 1.1.0.3 on Windows XP Pro with Edius 5.5 - no problems, everything works as it should.

On Win 7 Pro with Edius 5.5 an error occurs when exiting Vistitle back to the Edius timeline - a dialog box which simply says 'Error' appears. Closing the dialog box returns to the Edius timeline and the Vistitle track appears to play fine.

When double-clicking on the Vistitle track to edit the title, the 'Error' dialog appears again, but carries on to Vistitle when the dialog is closed. Then the 'Error' dialog appears again on exit!

As far as I can tell, everything is ok with the titles created in Vistitle - they play and render on the timeline fine. I haven't done anything too complicated yet though.

I am currently editing an HD 1920x1080 50i project. The same problem occurs when starting a new project from scratch.

The only nuisance is the 'Error' dialog box - this doesn't occur on the Win XP/Edius 5.5 installation.

I have reinstalled vistitle, but no change. The only other option is to reinstall Edius and Vistitle again and see if that helps.

The Win7/Edius 5.5 installation is pretty fresh - only about 2 weeks: Edius 5.0 was installed followed by updates 5.1, 5.12 and 5.5. Vistitle 1.1.0.2 followed by 1.1.0.3 was installed last. There is very little else installed on the machine and no other Edius plug-ins. TMPro is not installed on the Win7 machine (it is on XP).

As far as I know Vistitle is compatible with Win 7?? And its running fine on XP with Edius 5.5.

I figure it must be something to do with my installation, Win 7, Edius 5.5 or a combination of the above.

Has anyone come across the 'Error' dialog with Vistitle?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Have tried reinstalling Vistitle - but no change. Next step is to reinstall Edius & updates, and then Vistitle again.

For the time being I'm persisting with the 'Error' dialog!

        Hi Mark

May I ask which graphics driver you are using for your 8800GT, is it the Microsoft win7 driver from auto update or the latest from Nvidia?

        Regards

        Dave.

          I'm using the nvidia driver - version 8.17.11.9261 - 11/1/2010.

I have just been through and applied Anton's Win 7 tweaks:

Windows 7 64bit optimization settings for Grass Valley Edius users by disabling services and windows features that may otherwise slow the workflow

and the problem seems to have gone away! I'm guessing there was an issue with one of the services running which I've now shut down??

When I get a chance I'll go back through them and see if I can find the cause.

But for now everything seems to be ok - no more 'Error' dialog!

Just a note most of those tweaks are for better windows performance only, these tweaks are very common in Vista ect, Windows defender and not running anti virus software will improve Edius. but most of the other tweaks I don't think it will have an effect on Edius at all, As I said these tweaks should be applied when you install Windows 7 anyway. Just google Windows 7 tweaks and you will find a lot more.

There is only one account set up on the computer - and under the User Accounts it is showing as Administrator - so I assume that means Edius would run 'as Administrator'??

Is there something else I should do to confirm that?

                Thanks,

Not necessarily. If UAC is on you have to elevate EDIUS to run as an admin.
