  • Edius with Raptor RT2 on Windows 7?

Currently I'm stll running Edius Pro 3 on a clunky buggy Windows XP machine, taking a bit of time to my upgrade.

I've decided to get a brand new computer rather than upgrade my exisiting one. I'm planning on getting the newest version of Edius for HD, and at least for the forseeable future, run it without a hardware video capture board (whatever is the current equivalent of the RT2), and do my HD editing in software.

While I'm getting started, I'm planning on winding down the SD projects on mt XP machine, and when I have, I want to move my Raptor RT2 over into my new machine, which will be running Edius 5 and Windows 7.

Clearly the Raptor RT2 will not support the HD material, but it will be much preferred for SD as I can then support output to a TV/Video monitor.

But I'm not sure that the RT2, or any of it's driver software etc will run with Edius 5 or Windows 7.

If anybody can let me know, I'd be very appreciative.

    :)

THere are no more driver upgrades for that card so it will not work. Sorry about that.

grumble, grumble.... Glad I checked. :)

Will the RT2 still work with Windows XP pro on a new PC then, or are there other concerns such as motherboard compatibility?
I was told that there's some kind of new HDD formatting coming in that wouldn't work with XP, but I think it's exFAT, and apparently I can get it working with XP. If that is the case, I'd rather stick with XP anyway.

Also, slight tangent: I have stored a lot of material in Canopus DV codec on DVDR. If I cannot get the RT2 to work with my new PC, will i be able to read these with Edius (latest version)?

Thanks again. Help is very appreciated.

It should work on a new PC with XP but you are using old hardware in a new computer. Why?

If you have Edius on the new computer it will read the Canopus codec

If you are wanting output to TV, might I suggest a Spark HD card. It is very reasonable and will do what you need.
It is in the $270 range.
