I concur with Jerry. George did a demo here this week with one of his systems, and Edius NEO (with AVCHD booster) was running 3 streams of AVCHD - two with picture in picture with shadow, border, edges and movement and with titles - no problem. We didn't try pushing it further, but I'm sure it could have run more in RT.

I'm anxiously awaiting for Edius 5.5 to make a guest appearance at my location! I'd love to see how good multicam editing in EDIUS will work with a mix of HDV and AVCHD.

I can do 4 streams of realtime editing with Neo Booster (and this includes filters) with no problem. I expect the same in Edius 5.5 when it comes out.
It will be interesting to see native AVCHD edited with Adobe's Mercury Playback Engine and Edius 5.5 at NAB next month. I imagine they will both work very good with AVCHD.

The booster product works great. I had 4 layers with pip and color correction, chroma key and sharpness all running in realtime.
I would hit the spacebar at the beginning of the clip, no run up, and the buffer would climb.
The Neo Booster product worked flawlessly and made it appear as if the AVCHD files were just another HQ file.
Thankx Jerry, But my main work is with Multicam, and Neo doesn't support this function. I will wait. Cheers.

    No place like home !

Edius is the most effective editing tool on the market.
I've started editing with Premire when i was 20.
Today , 34, after using Avid, Edit, DPS-Q ,Premiere and Edius,
in various facilities, i can asure you that
Edius is the best editing tool for the digital generation.
Just two things are missing for me - great footage and great salary...
    :-)

why ? The Mercury engine is released already ?
I tought you also need a high end quadro cuda gpu card and a work station with a gazillion horsepower to do it ?

Better wait for 5.5, 3 more weeks :)

You don't have a choice today. You either convert AVCHD to HQ or be off with it. Until EDIUS 5.5 make its appearance, there is nothing you can do (with respect to EDIUS).

Of course, if you can use Premiere - sure, please feel free to do so.

Yep , your system rocks! But too bad no realtime support yet...

I was told Premiere CS4 can handle MTS better

    Could you support this line?

I don't like Premiere or Avid, because Edius is my choice.

I'll just have to sit and wait for lower system prices and Edius 5.5..............

    :-(

Why are you claming they can not? Is that because of the fact that 5.5
will be released with a new software capability that will handle MTS even
on Quad Processors with no trouble?

In the soon to be released EDIUS 5.5 indeed you will be able to do a few streams of AVCHD in real time. But all of this will depend on your system.
