I discussed in greater detail with George Dame this evening via Skype and his insights indicate that Neo Booster 2.5 and Edius 5.12 can interchange back and forth without issue - as long as the features of Neo are kept in line with the Edius 5 project - ie; no additional features that are available in 5 that aren't in Neo Booster 2.5
    Ok- sorry, I don't have 2.5.
I was very interested in this, as I would like to be able to move projects to an external drive, and work via my laptop from time-to-time.
Hasn't worked with Neo 1 or, at least in my initial test, 2.0 (it's possible there was some element in the 5 project stopping it- I didn't check that very carefully.)
If this works, I'm interested- a good reason to get 2.5 'the booster' (I haven't needed to work with AVCHD).

Anyone from Grass Valley Tech Support confirm this either way?
GV Tech support is not here. Please check the website for their correct phone number

I'm pretty sure you can't open edius 5 projects in neo. I certainly haven't been able to. Works the other way, of course- but once saved in 5, no going back. It's a shame...

Footage is HDV footage shot on a SONY Z7U - We met and discussed at great length earlier today about his options and the issues around PPro 2.0 are too great to overcome.

HDV shouldn't be an issue going back and forth should it? Straight Cuts, dissolves, title graphics only is what's there now. The title graphics will have to be rebuilt but they're real basic.

His biggest concern was being able to collaborate since I'm using Neo 2 to do the assembly but since he has PPro 2.0 and is looking to purchase full blown Edius 5, he wanted to know if he purchased and went the import of the PPro generated EDL into Edius 5 if Neo 2 could open the Edius 5 project file without issue.

He made the mistake of downloading the trial of Edius 5 a while back and the trial period has expired so there's no way for him to install again and test - hence why I'm asking.

Should not be a problem as long as you are not using an effect or transition that is not in Neo. I am assuming this is standard definition.

started a topic collaboration with Edius 5 and Neo 2

collaboration with Edius 5 and Neo 2

I'm being asked to collaborate with a documentary shooter for post production work. He's had MAJOR memory issues with Adobe PPro 2.0 and I'm recommending Edius 5 to him. The idea is he's done a rough edit already in PPro 2.0 - he would export out ,ultiple EDL files and then import them into Edius 5.

My question is this: Once he's imported the multiple EDL files from PPro 2.0 and saved them as Edius Project files - can I open the Edius 5 project files in Neo 2? I would be involved just in assembling the edit portion - hence my question.
Working...
