5dmk II and xdcam ex footage

We shoot with sony ex1s and ex3s either in 1920x1080 50i or 1280x720 50p
most of the time.But now we have got a full glidecam hd4000 rig which we are flying the ex1 on and also our dslr 5d mkII.
So as we are in pal land and are only shooting with th 5d for cutaways/b roll material Audio is not required and lip sync wont be required either from the5d.
Would you all advise for putting this 5d footage into the bin in edius 5.12 and right click and convert to canopus hq.I dont mind doing this except the file size increases .... [as an example from 438mb to 1.98 gig].....but what about changing the frame rate which records at 30p [29.97] to pal 25p ?
Ive watched Phillip Bloom over here and he does a whole recompressing of the 5d footage in fcp and compressor.
Any tips for me before this long awaited firmware update comes out from Canon for the 5d ...[25p ] etc.

Yes, convert the 5D files in the bin, but pick Standard quality. Nobody will be the wiser.

Buy some big drives... 5D owners are not generally known as cheap-skates.

That answers the question of file size which we are prepared for but whilst right clicking in the bin and converting to canopus hq [standard] whats your take in changing the frame rate to match the pal timeline ....i.e. 30p to 25p
can you see problems ahead in changing this as other nle's go through a whole recompression to drop some frames out.How does Edius do this or do I need to jump the files over into Procoder 3 first?

Bin conversion will not alter the frame rate, but Edius will handle that on the Timeline. Unfortunately, it will consume CPU resources in doing so.
