Having trouble incorporating outside AVI files

A videographer gave me several avi files to edit, but they won't open properly in edius 4.5. If I play them in media player I can hear the audio but can't see any video and the error details says that a M7o3 codec is required to play this file????
    Could anybody offer a solution.

    Best,
    Dave

What kind of AVI files? AVI is a generic term, use something like g-spot to id the file type

Looks like it's a Matrox MPEG codec...

        Hi Brandon:
You're right, I was looking at the M7o3 with a "o" it should be a zero, alot of Matrox codecs are tied to Matrox hardware, to use them otherwise you have to purchase a dongle(M-Key) and software to be able to use them, this could be one of them

          hmmm

there should be a matrox codec pack that you can install

I still have lots of stock footage in matrox format from my digisuite days and it opens fine in Edius because the matrox codecs are installed

          search for matrox codec pack
