  • Canon .mts to Standard DVD

Canon HF200 shoots 1920 x 1080 AVC file ending in .mts. I do not have a bluray burner, so must stay with standard dvd's. I've read about Canopus AVCHD converter and also Anton's HD to SD. What do you think is my best work flow for the best quality standard DVD?

first you have to convert to HQ with the AVCHD converter, and then use Virtual Dub and then again Edius, it is a bit of a lengthy process but worth it until SD vanishes or GV come up with a faster workflow

or convert with the same app to MPEG-2 and you can change the frame size to DVD as you go and save you the hassle of working with large HD files.

You can also employ smart render to avoid re-rendering and saves time

Do you have Firecoder?. I find that once a new HQ file has been created after editing using Firecode writer to produce DVD is excellent
