Any real reason to run Scandisk? BSOD, RAID issues, windows crashing?

Scandisk of Edius avi files?
I cycle through many projects on my g-raid drive and use Edius 4.x and an NX system exclusively to edit the projects. Some are captured using edius because they are HDV footage and some are captured using scenalizer for edius. My question is - can I run a scandisk on the drive without messing up my files that are used in the various edius projects (some completed, some not)?
