Download the 4.0 demo and try it? :)
If it works with 4.0, there's a good chance that it will work for 4.5 when it comes out?

Sort of - the DVRex RT is definitely no longer supported, and I would wager that v4.xx will be the last major release for official DVStorm support.

It is working at the mpoment. Check back on some older posts by Jerry and he has a few posts that tell the in and outs of what works with Rex.

I do wish we could continue the support of these products because they are good products BUT at a certain time it becomes to much of a resource hog to continue supporting hardware that is no longer being made or sold.

10 years is a good run though!! :)

It would be nice if we never had to upgrade again. This is in a perfect dream world, and of course, we do not live in one. I still have my rex. It is still a perfectly good piece of hardware.....for what it did. I have stated over and over again that it does more now than it did when I purchased it in '97.
It was $3,000, a lot of money. But times change and so do requirements.
I have the NX card now and still have the rex in another machine.
After editing in HD, going back to the rex and looking at the image on the
monitor...well, it just doesn't meet my standards. It is called being spoiled!

I will be building a replacement system for what would be a Rex box, to now housing a Decklink card. Times change, and so must I.
If you still are using SD, the Rex will work with Edius 4. Some functions are a little squirly, but those seem to vary from machine to machine.
If you are going to make the move to HD, don't even waste your time on any Rex updates or work arounds. You want to see the pretty pictures coming from your work on that monitor. The Rex just can't do that in HD.

It will be hard to pull the Rex out of the box because it has been such a workhorse over the years.
You have to hand it to Canopus for keeping it running for as long as it has.

I don't know anything past 4.5. But it too has been discontinued for awhile, so I am sure it's time is coming rapidly to a close...just not sure when.

Yes the DVStrom2 has been discontinued but isn't the the DVStorm XA (that is packaged with Edius DVX) similiar to the DVStorm?

I have a REX RT PRO with E3.62 and it is excellent and a storm2 pro and an old REXRT that I don't use and E4 running on a Sony VAIO laptop 17" with Blue Ray.

All working incredibly well, the only thing I would say is upgrade the REX to 3.62 or whatever the last of the 3 update was and keep that one going to do any effects like ALBUM etc as 4 won't look at it. Also GV is very thin on the ground with their effects I think they are now relying on Adorage and Boris especially Boris, you need to be a rocket scientist to get to grips with it.

I'm using Edius 4.XX on a DVREX Broadcast, no problems at all. I don't plan on dumping the Rex Broadcast until it dosen't support Edius at all, even then, I would possibly use it as one of our backup systems.

                              dVREX RT +E3

I also have a Storm2 running E3 with all updates on a 3.4 pentium Shuttle for the past 4 years and the computer has crashed only twice used the backup disc and all worked again, the only part that went wrong was the psu which I replaced. This machine with E3 will never leave me as I do my Photo Album and other things that E4 won't do.

I use E4 on my laptop not the fastest laptop but it works Sony Vaio AR21

Also have a made up Pentium 3.2 on an Asus P4C800E-Deluxe mobo with the old
DV REX PRO and E3 with all updates and software from Canopus, this machine has 6 hard drives and works a treat, must be at least 7 - 8 years old.

Now thinking of buying the latest Shuttle X with core 2 and quad core support.
