    AVC-HQ conversion

    Hi,

I've been looking at the new Panasonic HSC1UE camera and borrowed one to check it out with Edius. It's a great workflow and a surprising picture.
On keys, the footage hacks on areas with movement, it's as if the interlacing or lack of info in the motion blurred areas causes it.

I'm not sure if I'm looking at interlaced or interpolated frames in Edius - anywhere to set this?

Maybe AVC is just too compressed and noisy for keys?

Edius Chroma Key does the best job of it by far.

    Looks like interlacing to me.

It's an AVCHD camera, not AVC Intra, right?

There was a chroma conversion bug in the AVCHD converter,
which has been fixed in 1.02.
I suggest upgrading to the latest converter if you are using a previous one.

Currently, V1.02 is NOT available outside of Japan.

You can certainly download the file directly from Canopus' Japanese FTP server using anonymous FTP:

          ftp://ftp.canopus.co.jp/pub/jp/drive...erter_v102.exe

The V1.02 converter is localized for at least English and probably supports other languages as well -- I think it auto-detects the local language, since I never had to specify it. I see no reason not to use this version instead of earlier ones.

Use it at your own risk.

Most likely, the distribution of EDIUS v4.5 will include the latest version of this utility (although you'll also have direct timeline import of AVCHD anyway).

I'll check and update the download once I get ahold of it.

You use every program at your own risk. But this is an official publicly available release, not some leaked beta or hack job, and it does fix two important problems (aspect ratio handling and chroma conversion).

The download can be found on the Japanese page only. No other Canopus/TGV site lists the ftp server address. So I woulnd't call it an 'official' release in a forum outside of Japan.

Speaking of AVC Intra, Does Edius Broadcast support it Directly? Yes, I do mean Panasonic's "AVC HD Intra".

AVC-Intra support will be an add-on option for EDIUS Broadcast v4.5

OK. Great to see some folks from Japan on here. Thankyou Yousuke - I wasn't aware.
I'll try to get the new version and give it a try.

Allthough it's not intra (that would be nice on a camcorder for a thousand quid), it still looks quite good even under a microscope.
Even better if I can key on it.

                          Panasonic HPX 3000 AVC Intra

                          Hi !

My previous version of Broadcast had all panasonic support drivers, but now that installed new operating system and Broadcast, panasonic can't be seen in lists. Just can't open AVC intra files to bin.

Is there a support place for that. I installed Broadcast again, but no help..

                          Camera is just Great !

AVC Intra requires an additional license to allow editing within EDIUS - do you have that additional license (dongle)?

Well, how to figure out which dongle ? I got two of Canopus dongles..
I also contacted Thomson.net group and dealer, and Panasonic for help.
