  • Now I’m really pissed I can’t write a DVD via Edius timeline

By a strange earlier problem I couldn’t write a DVD from Edius timeline, for a long time.
I have to write to a file and then let Firecoder Blu program write a DVD. This process tok more than 4 time more than doing it direct from the timeline. I searche several times via Forum for help but I could’t get any specific for my problem.
When I reinstall my Windows 7 Pro and the Edius up to ver 5,12, and Firecoder Blu ver.10 and then Firecoder menu template. I suddenly I could write direct from Edius to a DVD from the timeline.
I was very happy and I hopefully begin to produce a lot of DVD like I did in earlier version of Edius.
Everything sems to be happy until, install Firecoder Blu ver. 11, after that it's impossible to write DVD from timeline.
Back to square one and I feel miserly. I try to uninstall Firecoder Blu but still got the problem.
I reinstall Edius again and whitout no result. what ever I do it still impossible to write a DVD from timeline. It doesn’t initiate and begin decoding.
I always have to kill the process and after that Edius and begin again.
Please help me someone this is unbearable I can't work with having this problem.
    Tom

Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but have you selected DVD under the movie tab in disc burner....it defaults to BD from a HD timeline and if you try to burn with a DVD in the drive it wont work.

Is the project progressive or interlace? Projects set to progressive won't work.

I'm very happy for all your help.
I have struggled to solve this problem nearly 4 month with different solution with no result. I have select DVD that was the first i did and i is in interlaced mode.
I remember when got the Firecoder Blu there were no possibility to write directly to FC Blu, you have to write to file and then use FC Blu. Now is the opposite situation I can’t write to DVD instead.
I hope that Thomson support, do some investigate if there is a bugg for this problem
              Thank you all

are you able to do the job by deselecting FCB? and letting the software do the job?

I am not and FCB expert, so someone else needs to solve the FCB issue

remember that FCB is slower in encoding than latest computers, so a boat anchor could be good use for it in the future

It's still the same I can't write to DVD even if uninstall Firecoder Blu. The situation is that I can't code anything.
One thing I haven't mention before is that couldn’t write to file with anything else than FCB codec so my situation was very limited about codec.
I don't have any clue what to do.
I reinstall Edius again and the function stop when I install version 5,10 and FCB, that version you where able to shoos DVD or BD

I had the same problem, I had to uninstall all the NewBlue FX (latest retail versions) and Izotope audio plugins, remove all the folders ect, then reboot, evrything worked fine again after that, i found that the problem was with the latest NewBlue FX not creating their own sub folders in the Edius VST plugin folder.

                            Hi All,
There are a couple of things from us.

                            1. Windows 7 is not offically supported yet and from the testing we have been doing here on our systems encoding and DVD/BD creation has been the most amount of bugs.

                            2. Have you installed V5.12?

                            Regards

                            Chris

This sounds like why I can't export any MPEG2's as per my other thread! Is there any estimation on a future version upgrade date to support Windows 7, or is a long way away yet?
