Capturing DV with IEEE1394 Issue

I have Edius 5 and cannot capture through my IEEE1394 port. I have tried the onboard motherboard port and a different card as well. It appears to link to the VCR and the controls for play, stop & pause seem to work but I do not see any picture or hear sound.

Any ideas?

if you are on Win7 ....there is a know Windows7 issue
it need to >updating< the win7 1394 driver to a "old" Version

The driver was updated automatically when I installed Win 7?

maybe, eventually, it helps..... for you

here in german speech area it helps, but not for all User with 1394 \ win7 problem

delete the 1394 driver
restart win7
win 7 found new hardware
manually (by hand) for Texas Inst. (or NEC or your chip) ==> choose the 1394 driver (old)
restart win7

Do NOT delete the driver, delete the device from Device Manager:

Update the OHCI driver with the "Legacy" OHCI Compliant one. Don't let Win 7 automatically install a driver. When Win 7 asks you to choose the location of the driver. Choose "select from a list" and select the "legacy" driver. This should take care of your problem. I had this same problem and using the legacy driver fixed it.

I dont know Anton, but the drivers did not work, with DVCapture but after I installed the legacy drivers, I am up and running.....and even though I can hear the sound when I plug 9n the camera, I dont see it, neither does anything shows up in the oreview window in DVCapture until I installed the legacy drivers, so, it has to be GV., so we will just have to wait till they release their drivers for win. 7.......hope they come soon, because I am set up for 64 bit......

in my case, everything works out of the box, but I am using the firewire connector on the Edius SP card, maybe that is why?

There can be a problem with the legacy driver also, sometimes you have to find out what chipset the FW is using and see if win7 has a driver for it in the list.
