        Hello jeauk,

you must be more specific about the material you are editing.
You wrote, that your material is Widescreen 16:9 PAL. If it's SD (Standard Definition) 16:9 make sure that you have the Settings set to
        Generic OHCI SD PAL | DV50i 16:9, 48kHz
If you edit HDV footage > Generic OHCI HD 50Hz | HDCAM/HDV 1080/50i must be set.

All images used in the timeline must be set to the corresponding PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio) which is 1:1,42 for SD Widescreen or 1:1,33 for HDV.

        Hope this helps...

I think you need a 16:9 capable monitor. Or you should edit all you 16:9 footage in a 4:3 sd project and view everything letter boxed on a 4:3 monitor.

I you go out of the storm and the footage looks stretched switch your broadcast monitor to 16:9 to correctly display 16:9

I've edited 16:9 projects with the storm....my Sony PVE series has a switch for 16:9 sources, so I just turn that on whenever I work with 16:9 projects.

Another way is as mentioned, just make a 4:3 project, edit as usual, then when done, switch the project to 16:9 and export to your favorite medium.

If you do this, just be careful with titles, graphics and some pixel-based coordinated effects - the size and positioning may be incorrect when switching aspect ratios, and you'll need to adjust them manually.

Spot on advice. Seeing as this is in the Broadcast section Switching from 4x3 is frought with dangers. For Broadcast Safe areas have to be strictly adhered to with reagrd to captions, especially legalese. FYI The BBC has a template that has these Safe Areas for 16x9- with 14x9 and 4x3 safe

I was going to post this, but as seen, most of todays "news" crews just do cuts only and the original user is using a DVStorm?

For cuts only it's fine, but as Kenneally mentioned, it's dangerous for other things.
