    Very important tip for P2 beginners.
    Before you erase the cards, make sure the clips were transferred to the hard drive. Copy, Direct import, etc can be a bit confusing at first. Get in the habit of taking the cards out of the computer and throwing a few clips from the Bin onto the timeline to make sure Edius is pointing to the transferred clips on the hard drive...not the P2 cards. Clips should not appear "offline" in the Bin. If everything plays ok, gulp, you can erase your cards.
    Also, hard drives are cheap. I would archive your archive. :}

      Jim,

      100.1% agree with you here. I don't use HDD to archive data. I use tapes (not video tapes) - but, SDLT tapes. SIN$40 for 400GB ... (about US$25). Cheaper than HDD. AND definitely, more reliable than HDD.

        Ahh well, the camera's gone now, so I 'll remain confused without knowing what happened. :)

                Yes, Panasonic's drivers for the Mac support IEEE 1394, but if you're running Edius, you have to be using the Windows drivers.
