    Thanks so far guys.

I am leaning toward the Asus because this motherboard supports the latest Intel 45nm CPU Core 2 Quad.

Tech support told me that this board should be OK
But could not guarantee anything as it hasn't been tested yet.

Has anyone tried the Asus P5K WS with Edius SP ?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated as I'm about to build my system.

    Thanks

(thanks again Mark for your help)

OK, the 1x PCI-e slots were too small to the naked eye :)

1x PCI-e slots are not useable for a decent raid card either, so there's still limitations.

    Thanks Mark,

    This MB has:
    1 x PCI-E x 16 slots
    2 x PCI-E x 1 slots
    1 x PCI-X
    2 x PCI 2.2

    See here

That chipset is untried afaik. It could work or it could give you trouble.
It looks like ti only has 1x PCI-X, 1x PCI-e and 2 X PCI. So you would use all them up and left with only 1 x PCI----- that's a bit of a concern, no room for a raid card.

Perhaps think about the Supermicro X7DA-LE which is an ATX form factor Greencreek (good) chipset dual Xeon board, so it will fit a standard case, have more slots and you only need to put in 1 Xeon, upgrade to 2 later if you choose. It would retail around $750AU though.

started a topic MB for SP

    MB for SP

I have just bought Edius SP and was about to buy the P5WDG2 WS Professional
which was given the thumbs up by so many of you. See this thread. . .

Unfortunately I have just learnt that this MB is no longer available.

So now I am looking at the Asus P5K WS

Sorry to start this discussion all over again but I really need to know if this MB will work with SP.

I have also emailed the Grass Valley guys here in Melbourne, just waiting for a response.

Thanks to anyone who can help (again)

    Bill :)
Working...
