Not that I have seen, or has been documented.

Will Edius 4.5 have any control for the audio input level on the NX card (PCI-X)?

I can't say much BUT the whole purpose of the output format is to talk to main stream apps that are out there. If I say anything else I will killed in a horrible way!! :)

with that said I believe that you will like this upgrade for what has been done to it :)
Well, I cannot like what I didn't try... I have to try first. Will see:)
this upgrade was to get EDIUS into the Grass Valley family of products :)
See, this is what I am afraid of- Edius was a nice software-hardware, but since ver 4.13 it had a lot of bugs... This was the exact time GV took over the Canopus... Again, let me see ver 4.5 to see if I like Grass Valley family of products...
And a question, please: Can you (hope you can!) tell us more about those AAF (was it correct neme?) standard for Edius "to speak" with another software, what will be supported, what software will be "the target" and more about the idea of it and how it shold work within Edius.
    Thank you
    mike

For instance the preview window in the main UI could be interactive.

    Thanks!

Please remember that this is not a major overhaul upgrade. It is a point upgrade.

There are many things that are fixed and a few new things but mostly this upgrade was to get EDIUS into the Grass Valley family of products :)

Now, with that said I believe that you will like this upgrade for what has been done to it :)

Good points, but we're straying a little off the thread's topic now. Ask if something is in 4.5, and get the answer. If the answer is "no" and you'd like it to be considered for future versions, post a proper request in the appropriate forum.

As for 'corporate commentary' posts - please refrain. As part of the posting guidelines, I'll be removing any more posts in this vein.

We're well aware of the task that lies ahead. Things are definitely moving in a strong, unified direction. Yes, as investors (customers) in our technology, you have a right to wanting to know what is in store, but this forum is not the place for this.

    Thanks!

As far as the button pool -- I'm asking for all the Sony/Panasonic Edit Controller buttons be available. The guys/girls at NBC, for example, are likely used to all the MARK IN/OUT, GOTO MARK, CLEAR MARK buttons that are on Sony/Panasonic Edit Controllers and on Avid NLEs. These buttons are universal, world-wide.
I like the idea of Edius being among the programs which use a worldwide standard :)

That's what I expect to happen. But, in fact, when the number if buttons beomes too much -- it's not always the leftmost button that gets push to the MOREBUTTONS button. For example, The Title button on a Bin will not get pushed in MOREBUTTONS. Other buttons will.

It's as though EDIUS has a priority of its own. When the number gets too large -- push these and not those.

This would be solved if the TIMELINE buttons size could be set independently of the RECORDER/PLAYER button size.

One reason people pay $5K for Media Composer is that it supports TWO rows of buttons and has a full set of buttons. You can play MC just like it was hardware. Everything is available via keyboard AND mouse.

I think this is critical for GV customers.

Hey Kenneally, Mike0130 has 1 point that is very valid and should concern everybody here. I know it has been a great concern of mine for way too long.

When you look at Final Cut Pro for eg I am astounded at the massive uptake and acceptance it has gained at the expense of other editing applications such as Edius, Avid, Premiere. Esprecially given it's late arrival by comparison to other products which have been out there longer.

If people like me want to consider their 'employability' either as freelancers or paid employees working for another organisation, it is clear you should be on Avid or more likely FCP. These seem to be the platforms of choice.

This is a twofold problem for all of us here.
    1) A superior product - feature wise and ease of use
    2) A product that has the killer mktg clout put to it by GV to get it there in terms of mkt exposure/acceptance/use/dominance.

I hope you make this a point, (put some placards up around your office or something Mr Sparkle), and tell the heavies this, since it is critical to all our survival and at the moment we are losing the mktg war. It wouldn't be the first time the better product got out gunned by superior competitor mktg.

Having said that (a better product), there needs more development still on Edius and fast to get it there and the mktg to be relentless. Bash 'em into the ground we need to do Mr Sparkle - take no prisoners!

At the moment I for one, am contemplating a move, not because I particularly want to, but may be forced to for employability concerns.

No. It will load, play for a couple of (pre buffered seconds) and then drop frames.

You really want to consider converting to HQ.

Yep, but my word, you'll need a seriously beefy system to get any realtime productivity out of it.
Will a E6600 be enough for that task?

How does 4.5 handle AVCHD clips? Is the ACVHD converter utility still needed or can clips be used in their native format?
