2 Quick questions

1) Is Edius 4.5 (Std and Broadcast) are available in a native 64bit version ? We are running XP 64 and would love to use the full potential of this 64bit OS.
What about Vista (some of our new notebook comes with 32 or 64bit Vista)
2) MXF (P2 Support) is this ONLY for the broadcast version ? If so, Where can we buy it ? Here in Japan Canopus does not support/sell/even knows about the Broadcast version.

1) I have answered this a number of times in this (and other) threads - 4.5 is 32-bit, Windows XP only - the software itself will run under 64-bit OSes but will not take full advantage of the platform.

2) P2 support is EDIUS Broadcast only. In Japan, I believe you need to buy EDIUS Pro and the "EDIUS BP Option" to get P2 support.

The release of 4.5

I have been asked to announce that there will be a release of EDIUS 4.5 on the japan site on July 20th.

We know you are going to find it and announce it so we beat you to it. :)

You need to know a couple of things... If you DL it you do so at your own risk. It is not supported until it is officially released on the Canopus / Grass Valley site.

The release on the Japan site is SOFTWARE ONLY!! It doesn't have support for ANY hardware.

The release on the US site is going to be a short time later and I am going to tell ya... I would wait for it if I were you. :)

Proxy Handling...

In 4.24 under the "File" menu we now have "Proxy handling..." as a greyed-out option.

Will this be available in 4.5 or 4.51-ish?

It's enabled in the current version. It applies only when there are P2 and/or XDCAM clips on the timeline that have not already had their hi-res essence downloaded.

That is correct, but remember that EDIUS Broadcast and EDIUS Pro use the same core application - so there's stuff in EDIUS Pro that's "ready" for Broadcast - you just need the licenses..
