    • AE Video Out in 4.5

will 4.5 support video out for after effects, I am using 3.64 now as it is very stable for me but want to switch to 4.5 for the added features, just don't want to lose AE video out.
      Thanks
      Jeff

      • Are you talking about AE video through an NX card? (yes, it works) Edius is unrelated to AE.

        • The output plug-in for AE remains the same if you move to EDIUS v4.xx. In fact, I think a newer version of the plug-in is scheduled to come out at the same time as v4.5's release...but I could have misread things.

Any news if it supports instant switching of After Effects (for example) with Edius?

              • No, nothing that I know of. I believe this update is to bring the plug-ins into check with the updated hardware drivers (which in turn are necessary to work with v4.5).

                  • We are getting close and I want to remind everyone that this is a point upgrade.

This is NOT a major release.

I am afraid that many folks are thinking that the new look is a re-write and getting their hopes up for HUGE changes and it is not.

The last year was spent getting Edius and other Canopus products in line with the family of Grass Valley products.

Now, with that said I am hoping you will see that there is more than a few things for all users and not just broadcast and I am hoping that you guys will be happy with it.

                    • Mike, are you saying that the features that were on japan WEB site are not planned in ver.4.5?
                      http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools
                      For example, this
"AAF (Advanced Authoring Format) it corresponded to import/export. With the composition software of DAW and After Effects etc of Pro Tools and the like exchanging the data becomes possible."
                      Is this feature in?
                      Thank you

                      • Mike, I don't know if it helps or not, but GV has its own list of 4.5 changes:

                        http://www.canopus.com/products/EDIU...ewfeatures.php

the normal answer I have seen is that stuff that's on the japanese site doesn't necessarily have any connection with what we'll see here outside of japan

                        • T-Bone, this is exactly my point! Where are those guys who make Edius- all those programmers etc? I think they are in Japan. And probably this is the reason we like the product? So you saying that they will make an update, but some parts of it will dissapear till it reaches us?
Since this forum is on, GV guys trying to keep secrets about everythig, I am happy when I can get some more info (see, I was born in USSR, and I remember soviet system where you will never hear anything that goverment don't want you to hear... That time I was listening "The Woice of America" on short waves radio to hear something more... or different from soviet point of view)

                          • We don't "keep secrets" but rather, we only talk about things that are 100% confirmed and ready for release outside of Japan. We have no control whatsoever in what Japan publishes or states, and when they will do it.

AAF support is in 4.5. End of story.

As for release schedule, please do not ask "where is it?" - it will be ready when it is done - looking closer to the end of July, but may take longer. Any more "where is it?" posts will be deleted. When the update is released, an announcement will be posted in many many places.

                            Thanks!

                            • Full preview in a secondary monitor

Hi, what about full video preiew in a secondary monitor (like Vegas or Avid Xpress), it could be an interesting fuction to add for a major upgrade, isn't it? I like the new look for the Edius 4.5. I'd like too much to work with avchd file produced with the new hd sony camera, will be possible? I'd like to work with single or multiple (select two separate point in a audio track to pump up db)selection with edit point of audio mixer and video mixer. I'd like that importing of files containing alpha channel will be improved (but this is an old story).

                              • Yes... it is. I am just aysing that many folks are going to think that this is a MAJOR upgrade when it was never intended as such. :)
