In the extended settings for elementary streams there is an option for profile&level. The default is auto but Anton's settings are [email protected] What does this setting do?

    Thanks

[email protected] is for SD (DVD)
[email protected] is for HD (Blu-ray)

I don't trust auto, because if the project setting is HD, the wrong profile may get chosen in SD export if left on auto

What do these settings mean exactly? - learning and curious.
Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but she did it backwards and in high heels.

Thanks Anton: I am about to go to Blu Ray almost exclusively. I just bought a new Samsung LED TV for my home and I looked at some of my SD DVD projects that were shot in HD and then down converted. Now I realize what I have been missing. If I just could get my customer base to step up to HD, it would be worth the upgrade. So many of them are so far behind. Last week I had a request for one of my races on VHS??? Even outputting it to a SVHS deck with VHS tape it looked really bad. All that time I thought our projects looked pretty good.

So quickly we get used to the new resolution.

Thanks again for your explanation of the setting. As always you are a great help to all of us.
