  • Help on Multicam

Ive been shooting wedding with multicam setup using HMC 150 synchro by timecode. The problem is that if I have a 3 cam, file will always start with 0000. If ill place the three fottages in the bin there will be 3 0000 file in my bin. in the past I usually make a folder in the bin label as camera 1, camera 2 and etc. but the problem is that when using multicam sync using timecode, I cannot place all the video at the same time from different camera if they are in a folders in the bin. You can only sync clips when you drag all of the clip at the same time in one folder .

    any workaround on this matter.

    Thanks in advance

tnx for the reply. oh by hey a camera can have as many as 500 clips per project and if I have a 3 camera its a pain to rename a 1500 clips. is there a better way?

Probably best to capture/import again, with the option (in settings>application>deck or capture, depending on the version of edius) to rename the files selected. Hope this is possible!
        Work: Edius 7.20.437 on HP Z220 workstation; Edius 6.08 on i7 running Win 7 64 bit 6 GB RAM. Neo 2.0 on a Lenovo T61. JVC GY-HD201 and GY-HD110.
Home: Canon HV20 and Panasonic GH1 (hacked); Neo 3.01 on HP elitebook 8440p i7 and Neo 1 on homemade dualcore desktop.

Yes manage your meta data in camera before you shoot.
IIRC you can do a bacth rename of reelname. Let me check.

Rename of reel name multiple clips:

            Here you go:
            1) Open Bin list mode.
            (display "reel name" column.)
If it is not there add in settings -> application settings ->customize-> display bin details
            2) Select clips. (shift select or control select)
            3) Right-click and select "Rename Clip" or push F2 key.
            4) Move the cursor to "reel name" column by hitting TAB KEY.
            5) Input reel name.
            6) press enter: all selected clips will now have the new reelname.

            Done

With this knowledge you can give every camcorder a unique reelname. EDIUS will now put every camera to a separate track and sync them if there is matching timecode. (free run or from a gen)
