I now believe my GS 7800 Graphics card is the culprit. When I hook up the second monitor that's when I have the problems. I can't even get into my BIOS when the second monitor is plugged in......well I can get into the BIOS but after just a few seconds everything freezes up and the disploay gets all garbled...then I just have to shut it down and start again. Any suggestions for a Graphic Card?

I have several external Monitors connected to the output of thee Rex Breakout Box. There is no viewing problem with the externals. My two (dual) computer monitors are where the problem is. The Preview and player screens in Edius do not show any video, ever, but sometimes when I start capturing I will get a video still on the capture screen.

are the editing monitors connected to the video out of the Rex?

I do not have any problem capturing in Edius 4+ or Rex. My only problem is with the editing monitors, they simply do not show the video as it is being captured, edited or when you play the timeline. My other stand alone monitors show the video and when running Premiere I see the video on that editing monitor.

    Ok,
Lets just start at the beginning.
What are you trying to capture and in what program. Edius 4 or 3.
Are you using Edius 3,4.0 or Rex capture to import.
Rex is not supported in Edius 4.0 but will work....to some point.
If you are using Edius, try capturing with the Rex utility instead and see if
    you can get capture.
Then try capturing through Edius OHCI. If you have a seperate firewire input and not through the Rex connection.
    Then report back.

My second machine has the RexRT bundle on it, and it works fine.
Except on a P4 3.4. Runs DV fine. Will edit 3-4 layers of HQ HD files
in RT, but not through the Rex.

I am not familiar with rex, but if it gives you settings that look like this, you will be in luck

I am using Rex as a DV capture hardware. I could switch to the GS 7800 card but my monitors have always worked before my lates upgrade. I'll see if some different setting helps.

On some chipsets the overlay doesn't work well or at all. There were settings (I believe in the hardware settings) that allow you to pick different overlay types.

Try the different types and see if that helps :)

do you have capture hardware such as NX, SP. Storm? if so, change your overlay settings in Edius to something that works, don't forget to restart Edius after each change
