  • HELP! How to Install on a new machine

I have a DVStorm with the breakout box, an upgrade DVStorm 2 Disk and now Edius 4.6 I have all of this on a box that I had used DVStorm once before, but I have reformatted and I am starting all over.

My question is there a certain order I need to load hardware and software? I know in the "old days" it was crucial which way you installed everything. Do I need to load the DVStorm 2 disks before I load Edius 4.0???

    Thanks,

    Kipp

I remember those old days of having a list of what to install and in what order.
I'm very happy to report that those days are over!

    It's very easy now.

Just install Edius 4.62 and that is it!

Once you have Edius 4.61 up and running with the DVstorm (2, Pro) you don't want to use anything else from those days, except a very useful little app called MediaCruise from Canopus, which sadly enough is not updated to work with later hardware offerings ..........................

Can I just go right to the 4.61 update or do I have to do all the updates from 4.0 up ?? Does MediaCruise work with Edius 4.61

                Thanks,

Media Cruise will work just fine with the DVStorm card regardless of Edius is installed or not.
Without Edius installed the storm card needs to function with it's respective Canopus driver, otherwise no go.
                  Enjoy MediaCruise, I wish I could ;(

MediaCruise was great for quick jobs.
Later it was updated to MPEGcapture.

Download the MPEGcapture file (only 276.4KB)

1- Unzip 'MPEGcapture for Storm.zip' file

2- Place that folder anywhere on you PC.

3- Run MCAP4SE.exe to launch MPEGcapture.

4- Or simply create a shortcut of MCAP4SE.exe to run from the desktop.
(right click on MCAP4SE.exe and select 'send to' then select 'Desktop (create shortcut)' )

                    That's it, no install.
You will use this method if you're only installing Edius.

MPEGcapture will only work if your Storm card has the daughtercard MPEG encoder (StormEncoder hardware module).

                    Hope that helps :)

Not sure how everone else used MediaCruise but for me the only purpose was to play out a video file full screen, in full res, using the DVStorm card on a tv.
Very useful as at that time there was no portable digital media players.

I agree, that was a very handy feature.

Now with Edius, you can do the same thing,
place any video file on the timeline and play it out onto your TV.
                        No need for MediaCruise anymore.

Then there was MpegCraft, which shone for like 2 days. I think it's still on my shelf. :)

Well yes & no, Edius stops playing the file when clicked elsewhere in windows, nothing wrong with that, it's an editor, not a media player :)

My point was that when having several Storm cards lying around it was always handy to use that with MediaCruise to use it as a high quality media player, even in a budget Pentium 4 it still works great.

With the trend moving towards HDMI connection, soon my NX card will suffer the same fate, and with no MediaCruise replacement/update this card will really become a door stopper, unlike the DVStorm, you can still use that today, without the need for a Edius dongle connected to the box ........
