  • avatar outline font problem

Now that I can use Title motion pro :)

I have a problem with the avatar outline font, which doesn't manifest itself in any other app.

The problem is all of the "R's" are not in outline, but are filled in.

I've used this font in photoshop and all was ok.

I just tried it again and all was fine. I tried it in a couple of other apps and also in movie maker and all was fine, all "R's" were in outline.

Just when used in Edius it happens.

I have changed the font to "biting my nails outline" and the "R's" work fine in that, but the font isn't really apropiate to my video.

I've looked through the rest of my fonts and the only other outline one I have is freya, and this has trouble with g's and p's. This font also works properly in my other apps.

    Any clues on this one?

I just tried it on my system with Windows XP SP2 + all subsequent hotfixes/patches and Edius 4 Broadcast V4.24, and the R's are not filled in.

Scratch that -- I just realized that the title I tried it with in an existing project was created using QuickTitler. In Titlemotion Pro, the R's are indeed filled in. Weird. :(

Fancy fonts often cause more trouble than they're worth in video. Does the "R" work if the font is smaller than surrounding characters?

I am not familiar with that font

however, you can use any font that appears in inscriber and make it outline, meaning you can see through the text, is that what you are after?

          Anton,

That is what I'm after. If you can give me some hints on how to do it that'd be great. In the mean time if I find out how I'll post back to save you the time.

Avatar outline does in fact work ok in quick titler, so I can use that for this time, as it's only a simple crawl from right to left.

Changing the font size of the R made no difference, smaller to very small or larger to very large.

basically, I set the title face transparent, 100%

then you can do whatever you want with title edge color, thickness, transparency, even graduating transparency

works on every font that appears inside TM

let me know if you need to see screenshots of what I am trying to say

Thanks again Anton, I'm there now. Just having a mess around trying to work out what it all does.

resurrecting this as I'm doing another tmp, again with just outlined letters.
                font is staccato 222
I set face to 100% transparent.
                Edge Outline 2 229/200/127 rgb.
                no shadow.
                Still.

                When saved it plays great.

Add roll or crawl and it is fine.

Add animation and it develops a black shadow to the outline edge.

Also, if I reopen the title to edit it, for some reason the text moves to the right by about 50pixels, which puts it out of position then.

I'm going to test with some other fonts.

Tried with arial, tahoma, times new roman. They are all the same.

I've reopened so many times now that I'm losing the right hand side of the last letter. I love so many things about Edius, but this title app is driving me crazy, premiere used to be so easy :(

In the mean time, anyone any ideas.

3D PiP works a treat on a still title, so why won't TMP do this?

I've just opened up the tmp again, and now the bottom line of text has moved over and the top line of text has stayed exaclty where it is.
Even if I close down tmp and don't save, the title now has the bottom line of text about 4 character psaces to the right, and this is a still title.

Please tell me I'm doing something wrong!!

are you typing outside the safety zone?
are you typing in a closed freeform box or a locked open box
a freeform shows a closed rectangle, Ctrl+Tab can turn it into locked box, this is how I work (then I use tab key to cycle through all 5 tab stops as needed)

at the moment I get constant TMP errors and crashes, it is getting beyond funny

                        I'm in the safety zone.
Locked box, as you told me how to.

can I see a screenshot of the TMP design view after opening such a title, I want to see what you see

since this forum compresses screenshots, you may email it to me or upload it somewhere where it is not compressed so I can see it clear
