I agree but if you have hundreds of clips, I think it is faster to go the route I suggested.
I did ask them about the AC and they said it was still freezing :-0

One thing Pat forgot to mention is that you actually don't have to close EDIUS.
What you do is the following:
1 Select the clips you which to restore in the bin
2 go to (on top the player window) file>restore offline clip. (you can assign a Key comb. mine is alt+`)
3 This will open the find offline clip window.
in this window choose : open the clip restore clip dialog.
You will see the clips you selected nicely in the list.
Then do the folder restore.
This is almost the same as what Pat suggested without the need to restart EDIUS.Last edited by SRsupport; 10-10-2009, 12:09 AM.

I just got off the phone to a station in Puerto Rico going over the same exact procedure. A little strange....

Thanks Pat,
My Brain is in full gear but my fingers are lazy. :)
Need a voice to text for the forum...eh but that would give me a soar throath....
Back to typing then...
Brandon needs to come up with something smart.

To go into a little more detail to what Steve said...Close Edius and then reopen the project. Choose Clip restoration when the box appears asking what you want to do, Select Restor clips... Once the restore box pops up with all of the unlinked clips, select them all (CTRL A) and then hit the little drop down arrow on the restore tab. It will say select Folder which will open up the normal windows navigation box. Navigate to the correct folder and hit OK and it will automatically relink all of the files that are located there. If there are multiple folders, repeat the process navigating to a different folder each time until the process is complete.
Another option is to move the folder (s) back to the original location and all the linking will be done automatically without going through the above process.

Select all the clips you want to restore and choose restore folder.
EDIUS will search for all selected files in the folder.

Thanks Steve,
I had a situation earlier this week when I needed to restore a lot of clips to a project. Is there a way to restore multiple clips at once as compared to one at a time? I'm sure there's an easy way.
Best

It is correct because 2 tapes will have 2 different real names . Every real name starts with a count.
If not clip restore and AAF would not work.
You can rename them in the bin after capture and give them any name you want. Path to original filenames will be kept as you will see in the path info but the name will be as you have chosen.
But I would suggest you use the Edius count and realname because this opens lots of possibility in management and multicam if neededLast edited by SRsupport; 10-09-2009, 10:53 PM.

Naming clips
I'm trying to determine if there is a better way to name files. Here's the scenario... I'm capturing footage and I name the first clip "Bob Camera" I have Edius set to split the clips based upon when start / stop was hit during recording so its separating everything just as planned. After two hours of capturing the clips are named as follows...
Bob Camera
Bob Camera(0001)
Bob Camera(0002)
etc...
I can work with this. However now I begin to capture the next tape and since I want to associate the remaining clips with this particular shooter I have to keep the same naming structure. I hit F9, under file name I type Bob Camera and it begins to number the clips
Bob Camera_001(0001)
Bob Camera_001(0002)
Is there anyway I can capture multiple tapes and keep a consecutive naming structure? I'm capturing SD footage via firewireTags: None
