Sorry, it's in the EDIUS Hardware Settings, under the Generic OHCI System/Output setting.

I'll give that a try. Thanks
To go back to P2 you'll have to render a P2 MXF structure no matter what your original editing source is anyway.

in any case, this is not an issue with Edius or GV or Canopus, this is a simple limitation of firewire control, it was never designed to be able to preroll a tape in order to give a clean in and out, however if the user has some black on timeline before the show starts and some black at the end, then print to DV tape is fine

If you don't have realtime DV output enabled, that could explain why your timeline will play back

If you don't have realtime DV output enabled, that could explain why your timeline will play back, but won't export to DV because during the export it's trying to play the timeline and compress to DV.

    richnation,
In the Bin, Right-click your .mxf file, chose Convert>File... and you'll make an HQ .avi that's way easier on your system. You'll have to look closely for a quality difference.

Im importing the files from my P2 card/camera, which i believe are called .mxf files. So i would need to convert them to Canopus HQ format to increase speed/realtime?

why use Print to tape? use rec to tape, simply place deck in rec mode and press spacebar to start timeline playback

    Congrats Poppa! Cigars!?

    Are you using HQ files?
You should be able to do this with Core2Duo, but you need to render non-RT areas before P-T-T with Pent.D. HD needs way more CPU than you may have. (For now)

If you're only after SD, down-convert from the camera for now.

Is realtime really realtime?/Printing to tape

Well I am now a proud pappa. Father to my very own Edius Broadcast 4 software that is. lol Still alot to learn but I have noticed two instances where the realtime playback is questionable.

    1. When I print to tape via firewire (generic firewire card) The tape stops as soon as it encounters an area with more than one layer of HD footage (outputting SD to tape). It plays back off the timeline fine, but when I print to tape, the only way to get it to print is to do an enire render of the entire project. Is this normal?

    2. If i do a dissolve from one clip to another, NOT butting two clips together and utilizing the transitions, but rather placing a clip above another one on the timeline and using the transparency rubber banding. This sometimes necessitates a render.

Im using a Pent. D 3.6ghz processor, 2gig ram, and internal Raid 0 sata drives.

    Thanks for any input.
Working...
