  • Edius 5 Vs. Sony HDR-HC3

I'm new to editing with Edius and thought to give it a try.... I used to use Premier to capture from my Sony HDV and someone suggested to use edius and editing is easier...
However, i'm not bale to capture anything for the past 2 hours....
Tried to search the forum with no luck...
Camera is connected via Firewire.... I choose HDV output from camera.
When i open Edius, it ask me to choose Preset for output; there's only OHCI Presets so since it's output, i choose 1920 x 1080 - 50i

Loading the preset, went to capture, Capture button is faded.... not able to select.... HDV input or OHCI input.... selected Generic HDV input and picked 1920 x 1080 50i and hit on OK... back to the screen... and still Capture button faded.. i know it might be stupid thing.... i would appreciate your help on that....

Welcome back from the dark side.

Make a new HDV preset (1440x1080) and pick Generic HDV input.

As Rusty said make your project 1440x1080 and your capture settings the same in OHCI. "HDV" is 1440x1080, mismatch the settings and its no go
