Make sure to install current MOBO drivers for all items. These can be found on the MFG website for download. Go to the other MFG websites to get their drivers.
Reboot after each driver install or program. That is an old school thing...works great for me being old school.
Did you install other software prior to installing Edius? If so, what.
If you are running XP, install SP3, if you are running VIsta install SP1.
If you are running a GV hardware card, make sure you have the most current drivers installed for your specific card.
If you answered no to most of these questions, that may be where the issue begins.

the aforementioned drivers.
For editing, a basic OS install becomes anything except basic. It takes time and patience to do it properly. Make sure you have all of the drivers and programs readily available to you at time of installation. This care in the beginning will net you months or years, of dependable operation....depending on how rough you are on the system.
I usually do a reinstall every 6-9 months. This cleans out all of the junk that can get into the system.
