  • mp3 WITH .ewc, now not importing

In Edius 4.6 I used an mp3 file that even has an .ewc file for it (a wave conformed file) but when I try to import it into Edius 5, it won't open it!

(Please see 2 attached screen image files)

My solution is to convert the mp3 to mp3 in any convertion program and then it will import.

    Why is this? Any solutions?

    try G-Spot

    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

    or
    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/de

if you see "VBR" ==> imho not supported in Edius 5
in 4.61 it works "VBR" most, but not always

Are you saying that VBR can be imported into Edius 4.6 and not in Edius 5? That doesn't make sense. As you can see, I have used this file in the past with Edius 4.6 and that is how I have an .ewc file. Edius 4.6 created it.

yes, that is correct, there are several things that worked in Edius4.6 that should not have worked, so I heard

I'm not surprised... and the waveforms are not the issue.
Open in Audacity and Save as .wav...

            All will be well.

The reason why VBR audio is a NO NO - because it will cause sync problems ... MUCH better to use WAV at a fixed sampling rate (44.1khz or 48khz).
