  • windows media file and 5.12

I just opened a project that was saved in 4.61 and I got this error.

"Plugin for the effect on the timeline was not found replaced with a dummy effect."

When the project fully loaded there was a file missing and it was a windows media file. I could see it on the hard drive but it would not open or restore in 5.12

Lucky for me I copied the folder over to a machine running 4.61 before the update to 5.12 and the project opens properly.

It appears that I have lost a plugin of some sort during the update from 4.61 to 5.12.

Can anyone point me in the right direction so that a windows Media file will open in 5.12.

    Thanks so much folks

That usually means that an Xplode effect was used in the earlier project. It needs to be replaced. Edius will normally place a fade in its place.

How do I replace it? Did I lose explode when going up to 5.12? If so how do I get it back?

      Thanks

Yes there is no Xplode in Version5. Some have described ways to try and get it back in 5 so do a search if you want to try it. Not what I would recommend though.

Unfortunately it is tough to find the effect that was replaced. We have requested that something a little more comprehensible be implemented. If you do fine it, simply replace with a different effect.
