I have recently captured some footages in a football field at night using Canon HDV XH A1. Unfortunately, very ugly noise appeared in the footage due to dark environment and insufficient lightings in the football field. Is there any helpful tool in Edius to get rid of this noise? Before that, what settings should be given to camera to avoid this noise or at least reduce it?

You can use the Median filter to do noise removal.. For really noisy footage, you may want to look at NeatVideo. -
