  • Freeze last frame, uhm, well its a bit complex

I need to freeze the last frame of some animations residing on separate video tracks but I also need to retain the alpha channel transparency they carry, so they remains on screen for some time after the animation ends, is this possible?

Saving a frame to the bin with Ctrl "T" and adding it back to the timeline is not working since the transparency in the still vanishes, Edius seems not to be looking after the alpha channel.

Keying the result to remove the black doesn't cut it, too much fine detail and soft drop shadows in these clips for simple luma or chroma keying.

Cannot export with proper alpha to bring back in as a still.

    I think I am stuck?

If your last frame is still (no motion blur or interlacing artifacts), razor it and select speed. Set the duration to whatever you need and set field processing to "None."

Perhaps you tried this already, but I'd export the still from Edius with a bright green matte under it and then simply clean up the still in Photoshop. Import the .psd file back into Edius, and you're good to go will alpha support again.

That does work but the technique Roy gave you is much faster! :)

          That nails it, thanks!
