  • Countdown Timer??

Just a quicky, my client wants a countdown clock at the front of 15 one minute videos I am prepairing, I seem to recall one in Edius years ago, anyone know if E4 has one.

Prompt replies would be appreciated, I have a deadline!! (don't we all?)

    Thanks,

    Gordon.

Does that mean there isn't one?

Because I do projects that frequently need counting clocks on screen (of various types), I would love it if Edius had a function where the user could simply choose an effect-clip called the 'Clock' or 'Timer' where they would simply drag this effect-clip to the video track and place it where they want.

In the effect options window, the user would enter a start time and the first frame of the clip would be this time. As the clip was played it would simply count. The user could also specify the format of the clock, and also whether to count up or down, what the labels of the clock should be, etc.

Sounds like one for the wishlist.

                Thanks!
                Sincerely,

Digital juice has a couple of count downs. One from 10 down and the other from 20 down.

                      1. Put in a blank color clip
                      2. Stretch it to the desired time ( a little longer, if you want)
                      3. Print to File (Display Timecode)
                      4. Import the file you just spit out
                      5. Set Speed to -100% (if you want to count down)
                      6. Use Layout to crop and position the numbers

                        Brandon,

Is there somewhere in settings that allows you to change the font that's used by the timecode function? (I don't have my Edius machine running at the moment).

I'm thinking that perhaps nested timelines would be the best way to do this in Edius. I tend to create the clocks in my comp apps, render a clip and use this on the timeline. Because there are numerous labels that go with the clock, it might be faster to create a special 'clock' timeline where I setup all positioning of labels relative to clock numbers, etc. and then use this timeline as a single clip on the real timeline (and PIP it into position, etc.). (Doing this in Edius would allow me to make quicker changes to the clock if necessary than having to re-render out of my comp apps). I'll have to try that.

                        Thanks!
                        Sincerely,

                        Mike Truly

Not that I know of, but EDIUS v4.5 brings more size/positioning options.

If it's something you'll be doing a lot, then it's probably best to get a plug-in/application that'll give you a nice time count-up/down.

a friend of mine was looking for something similar for his Avid ( yep, it doesn't do it either...at least his version doesn't) but I found this 30 min QT movie that works
