    Kenneally,
The original intent was to dredge more from built-in effects, then it got sidetracked into GPU transitions and their subsequent qualities. A decent idea, not completely off the rails. Currently, I'm a big fan of the NewBlue line.

    Jerry,
I'm still looking for the correct usage of the cleaver transition...
    Maybe my first divorce video.

Rusty, I agree the NewBlue effects are really useful at times and if you upgrade to the full package they can be mind blowing for promos and commercials. Some of the video FX can be set up in moments and look spectacular without the pain of AE.

I just wish there was some indepth documentation or tutorials regarding the use of the Colour Correction or White Balance filter, so far Grass Valley has hardly scratched the surface. I saw an excellent video online a few years ago but it was in German!

I felt that with the original explode effects there were some may I say it crappy effects but there were some good ones which I miss,

I would like to have had the explode effects but with 5.12 it won't work for me, I have tried it. So it is with regret I have to use what I have. A lot of these are not so good. Even Adorage's offerings, some if not most are a little tacky for my work.

Newblue, I haven't use much if at all. Mainly I now use bw with spot colour and slowmo.

Good afternoon SD the wx is the same here in Gidea Park

I se that most times we(editors) don't spend enough time experimenting with effects etc.....I found out , by not having a big work load one day, out of being bored, that GPU effects are almost the same as Xplode......I had liked using 'around we go' in xplode, and was disappointed that I had it no more, or so I thought , till I started messing around, and found that I can create the exact same thing in GPU...'Flip' Double, and I can customise it to look exactly the same as xplode's 'around we go'...and a lot of them are there, if we take the time to check carefully........and the only plugin I found nice is adorage's particles....I think the others are a bit cheezy......
