Edius is an NLE not an effect generator.

You do realize that you can customize each of those GPU effects if you take the time to do so. The same can be said for Vitascene.

EDIUS 5 actually comes with a bunch of plugins. Other NLE's do not come with any.

What kind of effects were you looking for? Cheesy Hollywood FX type stuff?

Hey fellas... what do you have against Hollywood Fx? Is a true "tried and tested" product that has survived for... let´s see... more than 18 years? Lol... I still have the first version (on floppys of course, box and everything) that came out for Lightwave on the Amiga computer platform, and even then I found 80% of the transitions pure velveeta.

Now, who doesn´t like velveeta on a grilled cheese sandwich?

Back on topic... I found the ammount of GPU fx overwhelming, not the best out there, but useful nonetheless. Alas, I rarely use anything fancy unless when justified.

Overwhelming is an understatement.
I can barely sort out the presets in my head, much less attempt to customize them!

I'm not really sure where this thread is going, to be honest.

Everybody's tastes will be different. There is no 'correct' parameters for defining taste (good, bad or otherwise).

I think what the OP is after, is some suggestions of compatible third-party effects packages that can be used inside of EDIUS. The best place to look/ask, would be the Software Plug-ins forum, right here.
