  • HASP function not implemented, program will crash now!

    E5.11, WinXP SP3

Weird one, when browsing folder in windows explorer that contains video clips and viewing in thumbnail view - this error message comes up "HASP function not implemented, program will crash now!" then win explorer crashes.

Google search reveals a chinese thread linking E5.11 http://bbs.fsvideo.com/read.php?tid=41855&uid=90611

    english translation http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...2522%26hl%3Den

I moved pavedius.dll out of the c:\windows\system32 folder and this fixes the problem, although causes E5 not to open. Put pavedius files back and E5 working and thumbnail problem back.

Dont have time to uninstall and re-instal at moment. Who knows?

Try deleting pavedius.dll and re-install the latest update.

Those thumbnailed clips - would they be XDCAM based clips?

deleted both pavedius files and reinstalled 5.12 update. No change. New pavedius files were created by the update exact same as before. The 2 files are:-

          pavedius.dll 140KB 17/03/2009 10:17
          pavedius5db.dll 140KB 17/03/2009 10:17

I dont know what pavedius5db.dll is doing, doesnt seem to matter if there or deleted.

No XDCAM in the folder - a mix of formats such as .mpg and h264. If i view a folder with XDCAM .mxf files, there is no thumbnail image - probably because i do not have sony xdcam viewer installed. If i view a folder of canopus HQ .avi the thumbnail images show OK and doesnt crash.

do u have the K-lite (or variant) codec pack installed?

if so some of the codecs on there are buggy and cause this type of thing for thumbnail videos

            try uninstalling that

I once had this problem of Eexplorer crashing with error while browising thumbnails of .avi files but that time it was giving error message for 'Data execution prevention', here in your case i don't know how helpful it will be but you might try.....

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those i select > Add > then browse c:\windows and select explorer.exe

thanks for the replies and suggestions.

                1) dont have k-lite installed
                2) not getting any DEP error

I tried installing FFDShow to force windows VFW decoding away from Canopus to FFDShow - no change. Dont know enough about configouring FFDShow so just leaving as is at the mo and working around.

HASP errors and blank XDCAM thumbnails, and messing with PAVEDIUS still makes me think there's a glitch or corruption with the EDIUS licensing/dongle recognition.

Probably not the best time to experiment, but can try installing different HASP drivers (e.g. try the latest from the Aladdin site).

In the end though, it may still lead to a scrub and reinstall.

I would go for an EDIUS reinstall with the latest hasp drivers.

                      I second that one.

is this the correct driver: HASP_SRM_Run- time_setup.zip ??

The unified runtime installer is the one to get. The 5.70 driver works correctly under vista 64.
I used this install recently to solve a problem on one of my systems.

                            Still there..

Well..what can i say..i feel a little unlucky..i finally moved my main Editing machine to Edius 5.12 and found out that there was a problem with the dongle: Edius couldnt recognize it anymore.

So i installed a driver from the Alladin Website and everything looked nice, dongle recognized, Edius working good.

But opening the Explorer, with a specific external disc attatched (no XD cam material..for sure..!) gave me the mentioned error message.

I am running XP, so i couldnt make the latest HASP driver run, as it says its not made for XP..did people find a solution to this weird problem..?

                            Thanks!
