I don't think you can with out stopping Edius starting, seems like a pain in the butt but takes little resources so don't worry.
I just right click and exit if I remember

No antonsvideo, it doesn't pop up. But even after I close Edius, it's still in the taskbar. I don't like having extra open that I don't need, even if it doesn't take up resources.

This was very annoying to me also. so I went to program files. open canopus, then deleted XDCam. Edius 4.61 and 5.12 work well for me

This problem goes waaaay back to the beginning and the solution was offered a looooong time ago. Now if we could just get GV to not have it in the first place.
If you don't mind having lots of little icons filing yoiur taskbar, leave it. I can't stand having things running in RAM if I don't need them, even if they don't take up resources. It's like having someone just sit quietly in your living room. If he's not invited - get out!
