  • How to disable\uninstall XDCAM

I don't need XDCAM SELECT but it opens every time I open Edius 5 (with HDSTROM). How can I disable it so it shouldn't open every time?

    Thanks

can you describe what you mean by it opens? do you mean it pops up? or it is minimized to taskbar next to time as a little icon?

if it pops up, I have a solution

I don't think you can with out stopping Edius starting, seems like a pain in the butt but takes little resources so don't worry.
I just right click and exit if I remember

I just leave it ... not worth the bother to stop it .... takes up hardly any resource.

          re

No antonsvideo, it doesn't pop up. But even after I close Edius, it's still in the taskbar. I don't like having extra open that I don't need, even if it doesn't take up resources.

I am not sure how to answer this, maybe someone from GV can

meanwhile, you can rename XDCAMSelect.exe to exe-old then it won't start, however, it will cause Edius to take longer to start

This was very annoying to me also. so I went to program files. open canopus, then deleted XDCam. Edius 4.61 and 5.12 work well for me

On a Dutch forum SR (steve) did give a solution for this:

"go in the EDIUS 5 folder and search for XDselect.exe
Rename it like XDselect.exe.old (or something )".

At starting up Edius it can not load XDcam anymore.

This problem goes waaaay back to the beginning and the solution was offered a looooong time ago. Now if we could just get GV to not have it in the first place.

                      re

antonsvideo is right though... it DOES take EDIUS a little longer to load when you rename that file and Edius can't find it.

So - you rob Peter to pay Paul, right? I just leave it alone - it does NOTHING on my system - ZERO performance hit.

If you don't mind having lots of little icons filing yoiur taskbar, leave it. I can't stand having things running in RAM if I don't need them, even if they don't take up resources. It's like having someone just sit quietly in your living room. If he's not invited - get out!

Oh well - it's your call then. It does mean that EDIUS will start up slower without XDCAM ....
