If you shut the program while it is still rendering the file, of course, you get nothing in the end.
Please be more specific in your request - your question is very vague. Give us more details.TingSern

the rendered files is "invalid" in the same second, as you change any thing ==> on the rendered part from the timeline behind the "render action"
the rendered files is "invalid" in the same second, as you change any thing ==> on the effect setting from the rendered effect behind the "render action"
make a short try:
1) select the first option >When the rendered file is invalid< in the above settings
2) open in windoof the folder "rendered files"
3) render a effect
4) a "new file" shoes up in the folder "rendered files"
5) change the settings from this effect
6) yuppp, ==> the "new file" is deletd automatically in the folder "rendered files"
this is logic, this " rendered file" have no reasonability behind change the settings (or trimmpoints etc. etc.)

i seeeeee .......
so it is better to move "rendered files" to a new folder right after completing rendering...
you have to understood, why a rendered file (i.e. from a effect) makes not sense in the project
if you change behind rendering, over again one or more effect parameter's.
If you change one or more effect parameter's ==> it need a new render action, results in a new "rendered files" from this effect.
Would Edius not automatically deletd the "renderd files without right (sense) to exist furthermore in this project."
you would fill on your disk with a lot of unnecessary files........CentralEurope aka Hans

you have what for version from Edius ??
in the past, it was version with a bug, thy delete incorrect the rendered (video)files, if you change settings on a audio-effect from this clip.
normally is ==> change settings on a audio-effect from a VA-clip have nothig to do with the rendered files,
Rendered files are allways only the "video part" from a clip
go in the folder "rendered files" ==>
and play a file with the windoof-player or
import this file in Edius, and look at the properties or play it on the timeline
and you can see ==> rendered files are only videoCentralEurope aka Hans
