      • Mark - many thanks for the info. I think I'll change to your encoding format, for your footage is spectacular - even on Vimeo, which I find at times can be quite jerky.

          • question about AVCHD converter

Hello. I'm stepping up from Edius NEO (jump upgrade) and am on a steep learning curve. Like you, I shoot 4k video from a Panasonic camera. Can you please tell me the advantage of using the AVCHD converter on these clips before adding them to a 1080P 29.97 timeline?
            Thank you.

To gain high detail closeups of critters I recorded at .mov 29.97p 4K 100Mbps and converted to 1080p using Edius AVCHD converter. All clips are edited on an Edius 29.97 project setting timeline so I can get good slow motion on the moving water scenes.

Once editing is complete I export as a Canopus lossless file which is very large and bring into TMPGEnc 4. I encode for Vimeo using Windows Media 9 which to my eye better preserves the colors, motion and effects. Here are photos of my encoding settings.

The best advantage is GV CODEC's are considerably easier on system resources and you'll get better playback response.
AVCHD is a good camera CODEC, while HQX is a great edit intermediate.

                  • Re-captured and re-edited using EDIUS 8

I shot a whole lot of HDV tapes back in 2006 and 2007 for this topic.
Back then I was using Avid MC, and I made a short video from them.

Now that I am using EDIUS, an NLE that let's me get on with editing instead of hindering me, I decided to re-capture from the old tapes and then re-edit everything.

                    The result is here https://vimeo.com/137730334

2 points: Remember it is from old HDV tapes, so not quite as fresh and sharp as you would expect nowadays.
                    2. I have added Closed Captions and am interested if they work for you on your browser or not. Make sure you select "CC" and choose the language first.

                    Regards

                    • On my Note 3 android phone I get 2 subtitles when the video starts.
1 underlying with thin font and one overhead played with bolder fonts, but shifted in position so both are visible.

Once I touch the time line play head the bolder font moves upwards ?

After selecting OFF for CC and then ON it shows fine ?

                        • Thank you for that information, Tony
I will have to research Vimeo's CC behaviour more closely.
On a PC I can only see one row of subtitles - the "bold" version.

                            Here's a 60 second spot.
Everything is in real-time and some of the bike run recorded on Gopro-2
Everything else was recorded on Canon Pro camcorder(s).

                            • I know I posted the entire Pilot a while back, but here's the EDIUS-edited (as was the full Pilot) 5 minute Sizzle reel promo. For those who aren't familiar with the term "sizzle reel", it's a VERY short showcase (no more than 5 minutes) of your series intentions, characters, storyline/plot, etc. without telling the complete story - and intended usually only for use during a sales presentation - when you're trying to sell the series (or pilot or even a feature).

Shot on a Canon C100, edited on EDIUS 7.x with SPFX help from Robuskey, AfterEffects and Black Magic Resolve Lite.

                              Anyway - here's the "sizzle"!

Sorry, we couldn’t find that page

                              • Shot this for fun in the N. GA mountains. Used a Panasonic GH4 camera, set at 1080p 60fps and recording at 200mbps. Lenses were the Panasonic 14-45, 45-175, and Olympus 60mm macro as well as 75-300. Other equipment used was a Benro S-6 tripod and Rhino Slider V1 carbon. Edited with Edius 5.51 and encoded with TMPGEnc 4 using windows media encoder.
