    Thanks for the lovely video.

Here's one you might enjoy. Last year I produced a short piece focusing on the stream here in our backyard in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains over the course of a year. The stream empties into the Ashokan Reservoir, the oldest of the west-of-Hudson River reservoirs for NY City.

Thank you all very much. I don't know if it is patience as much as persistence. What was supposed to be a one day trip turned into three. After viewing the footage at home each day I knew I could go back and maybe do better.

Mark, you must have patience beyond human abilities, or you just love being in the wilderness.
    Excellent as usual.

Here is a project I just completed for the TCU Lacrosse Team:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azzjlPymyqk&t=1s

This was shot on a Panasonic PX270 & GH5. The GH5 was used for all of the gimbal shots, interviews and indoor footage. I filmed using VLog on the GH5 and applied the Leeming LUT in Primary Color Corrector for the editing.

Although the color of the GH5/Leeming combination can be striking, the color of the PX270 is still more accurate. The shades of purple really test how good a camera is imho. I had to key the purples in the GH5 footage to be correct using 3 Way color Corrector. They are a bit too blue if left alone. The PX270 with the customized internal color matrix nails it. Three chippers do still have a place.

This is one of my first full edits with 4k footage (all of the Gh5 footage was shot in 4k30p). I have to say, 4k is a resource hog. I made sure to run the resolution at 8bit full for better playback. In some areas where multiple clips overlapped and maybe a stabilizer or other filters were in the mix I had to go down to 1/2 for smooth playback. The 4k footage on a 1080p timeline is quite a lot of work for the computer. This is mixed with the AVC-Ultra which is already a difficult codec.

I would say we are still a few generations of CPUs away from taking care of business with 4k footage. Can't imagine a three camera 4k shoot in 10bit 60p.

Anyway, thanks to GV for adding the LOG capability in Edius. It really has kept the software in the modern times.

Congratulations. As many documentary makers know, when you start a project, you don't often know where it'll lead...Good going.

    The Shadows of Men documentary

Here's a documentary I started on Edius v4 and completed on v6. It is the story of one platoon that, during the Vietnam war , existed for eight years - I interviewed 22 crew members of the platoon whose experiences ranged from when the platoon was first organized to when it was decommissioned. The Razorback gunship platoon had only one mission in its existence - combat.

Unfortunately I was a one man band for this project - DP, Audio, Grip, Editor, Muse. I shot the interviews on a makeshift green screen in a small motel room with makeshift lights and the unevenness in the lighting of the green screen came to haunt me later in post. It started out as a simple project - I thought I'd do a short little piece using some still images I had and use Imaginate to create a little .avi of it - then one of the crew members gave me an hour long DVD of footage he had shot in combat with the platoon on Super 8 film - I wound up buying 30 more minutes of 16mm film of the platoon that was shot during TET of '68 from NARA - did eleven more interviews in addition to the first eleven - and then started pulling out my hair.

I have to say that over the course of the documentary, the Edius forum helped me tremendously when faced with dilemmas I needed fixing. This is really a great community for support.

Sorry but the trial has limitations the watermark and in the render area.

If you edit with the full version you will see an immediate jump in performance.

I think you should familiarize yourself with EDIUS.

    First Edius Clip

Here is my first Edius Clip, still with the watermark.
(At this point I want to mention, they should really remove that, as evaluating a software needs to be done in a real worls situation and I can not just edit a whole project for fun and throw it away at the end after working many hours on it.)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTGe0xuXvTc

    Issues I was facing:
-Unusable playback as soon the simple title or a more pronounced effect was added - to the point I gave up on color adjustments and titles.
-export was a nightmare, took me several tries to get my format I needed and export times are high in comparison to resolve/fcpx

Look at this simple clip, it should really playback properly.

Planet Earth Beneath The Milky Way In 4K

This is an entire re-edit of the time lapse film I did in 2016 and has some new content from this year. The previous 2016 version was my first major time lapse film and I was never really satisfied with it and decided it needed a complete redo. So, here it is.

If I do put some video together I will post here.
I'll have to take a good look at both those Sony cameras, looks like they could be a really good option for a high quality small system, especially as I could add a good mic when needed.

Look forward to some examples if you decide to make an edit.
