Well shot, but I'd find some B-roll to cover the pan down to his pants. (should we be seeing this?)
When you go to the gallery and theater shots, it needs natural sound.
Mostly, the interview seems to be about his camera. His face is hidden by it way too much.
Also, we see none of his work! Go shoot lots of B-roll! We don't need to see him talk, we need to see his work.
Lastly, photographers make lousy music video subjects. Play the music as a beat under his interview and it will be much better!

On a positive note, the sound is quite good!

Sorry to be so rough, but it can be much better.
Please post again if you re-edit.

        Thanks for the comments.

I didn't shoot the piece, all I did was the edit. One of the main problems I face is that I don't really have anybody to learn from, to throw ideas back and forth with. Working for a local television station in a foreign country has tons of drawbacks. Some of them include journalists and cameramen going on a shoot and bringing back very little material to work with and then they tell you to do wonders with no footage. Regarding b-roll material - nothing of the sort was filmed, none of the photographer's work was given to me - and to be honest, I get tired of asking for extra material.

Regarding the shots that need natural sound - that material was taken from another piece which already had the ambient sound stripped away.

Being that it's a local station, we have absolutely little time to edit our pieces - we as editors are expected to edit for our news programs, and everything else and everything has to be done as quick as possible - little regard is given to quality control. Pieces that should be no longer than 2-3 minutes are often stretched to 6-7 minutes - quantity over quality.

I grew up and studied in the states but unfortunately never had the opportunity to do television work in the U.S. - so I'm not quite sure as to how editors work in the states, how much time do you get for an individual piece etc...

we don't get time to re-edit pieces, at most I get a few hours to throw something together. When it comes to our news progam, I usually edit 4-5 pieces in about 3 hours.

Considering how the odds are stacked against you, the piece is ok. So thanks for posting.
          (I did like the audio)
I'd like to reach back in time and dope-slap a few camera operators myself!

              Really well done!
I'm seeing a lot of cutting edge work from Indonesia. Yours is a good example!

              Where was this shot?
hai rusty ;) tx for ur appreciation.
yes we r using FX1 and a wide angle lens
shot in surabaya (one of the city in indo..i know its not a famous city)
              anyway,
i'm still saving for the 5D or 7Dreview...which one is the best? ;)

here in indonesia the 5D users are worshipping their "cheap but magnificent" little DSLRcamera.
even many videographer used it for commercial TV.. n many dare to sell their big "expensive but not magnificent" shoulder camera just to exchange it with 5D n its "less expensive" lens.

hahaha funny.. why don't sony or canon use this technology years ago to produce a cheap video camera with BIG sensor like DSLR has?? rather than 3 sensors 1/3" expensive camera n MORE expensive lens.

see ..now many of us used DSLR for video...i can't imagine if in one wedding some guy asking me and i should say "sorry man, i'm not a photographer"
and walking away with DSLR camera hanging around my neck.

At some point of times in our lives,
we are filled with feelings of inadequacy and always ask for more than we can chew.
This short film flesh out the arduous journey of an old becak driver laboring away without a single sigh. Always treasuring every little blessing that came across.
