  • Can you create multiple versions of one sequence?

Before posting I read the Nested Sequence Post by Mike Truly. I don't think my question is the same as his. I started editing a project. I created a 10 minute production (I'll call it sequence 1). Then I created a second sequence that is the master project (sequence 2 - 45 minutes). I brought the completed sequence 1 into the master project (sequence 2) and then trimmed it on the timeline. Worked perfectly as that is exactly what I wanted to do. I would like to be able to save the original sequence 1 but also create a second version of the same sequence (without changing the first version) that I would be able to edit. Is that possible? I opened sequence 1 and clicked Shift + Ctrl + N and tried to create a new version of the sequence but all it did was create a brand new sequence. Ideas?

Hi David, I think I know what you mean. Right click on the sequence you want to copy. Select Duplicate Sequence. It will create the same sequence with a (1) beside the name. Double click on the new sequence and it will open as that new sequence on the timeline and you can edit it independently of the first sequence that you duplicated.

      Hi Pat,

If I right click on the name of the sequence it doesn't give me that option (Duplicate Sequence). It will allow me the following...

      Add to Bin
      Sequence Settings
      Track Height
      Close This Sequence
      Close All Other Sequences

Maybe I'm clicking in the wrong spot? Thanks

Are you clicking on the Sequence that is the Bin? That is what you need to do. You are clicking on the sequence tab.
