I too can't narrow it down to the cause. I thought it may be related to Vitascene because some of the other users on this forum suspected it to be.
But for some reason, I don't think its entirely related to Vitascene. Sometimes it can happen quickly once a project is opened.Raja Singh

I have same problem with "greyed out UNDO/Redo", especially on large projects.
What are your projects looking like?
How large are they projects?
Do you have any oversized still image? Or hundreds of still images?
Do you have any AE plug in the effect tree?
Do you use any third party effects, such as ProDAD or New Blue? How many?
