  • Automatic scene detection

I have a problem when capturing the scenes from my sony VX9000 to my NLE.

There a many scenes on my DVCAM tape, but after capturing I see in my bin one scene that contains all scenes in one

How can I get each scene on my tape as one scene in my bin ?

Is there a setting like "Automatic scene detection" ?

    Thx

Settings > Application Settings > Deck Settings about half way down are the the different options for automatically dividing files. If you like files divided check them all.

I have checked all the boxes, but I still get one big clip in my bin....

I think that the problem is that Edius use the timecode for dividing.
I'm looking for a way that Edius divide the file by looking at the content of the clip. Is that possible ?

If you captured the clip allready edius won't split it. You have to recapture.
Edius also looks at start and stops.
If the recording was done with out start and stop you will get one big file.
But that is not a problem becuase you can create virtual subclips from the player window and add them to bin and give them new names (if needed).

Or you can purchase scenalyzer and have scene detection.

Maar daarvoor moet je helaas de bankpas gebruiken. :)

Today I have captured another tape with a lot of scenes on it, but Edius doesn't regonize them at all. The tape was 35 minutes, after capturing I see in the bin that the first minute is disappeared, then I see the first scene with a duration from 10 minutes, the next clip is cut bij Edius and have a lenght of 1 minute and then the last clip have a duration of 25 minutes...

I was hoping to see all my cut-away's with a duration of 10 seconds and 4 clips with the interviews.

Now I have to place the three clips at the timeline and made every cut manually.

            Whats going wrong ?

Edius' "Scene Detection" is really a file separator based on tape data.
If firewire is working properly, files should divide as you indicate.
If you are capturing with analog, there's no data, so no division.

Try checking the Confirm filename before capture and see if that makes any difference. It should be working for you.

Are you starting and stopping the camcorder between scenes? Because EDIUS does not do detection based on scene change.

It only works if you set the date and time in the camera. Any chance you did not do this?
