more than likely a 3rd party filter playing up - try renaming the VST's if you used them then video filter and transition plug ins

          had today the same problem.
I had EDIUS open and was trying to shut down Windows. When I confirmed Windows ShutDown, Edius asked for "saving" - I confirmed and Windows shut down. After trying to reopen the Edius project I had the same error message.
          Interesting though:
When I have chosen the project on the "Edius screen", no data about the project was shown in the project data (left coloum).

But opened the backup and saved under the same name - working fine. The great Edius... :)

For starters, I never ever leave it to Windows to shutdown applications with files open. I always close the applications first (EDIUS, Photoshop, etc) ... then, shutdown Windows.

            Always play safe.

There is also a slight bug in some systems where it takes Edius several minutes to exit the task manager after it "closes" on the monitor. This might also cause a problem.

This happens frequent on my main system (hardware related ?), seldom, almost never on the 2nd.

Is your NX card PCI-X or PCI-e version? I never experiences such problems on my system - it is super stable :-). Mine is PCI-X.
