Unless they fixed it in version 9.0, version 8.0 would not work with the 64 bit version of Vegas with Canopus HQ files. The audio was all that was recognised.
That's because HQ doesn't have a 64 bit codec so its an issue with GV/Canopus not Vegas. HQ works fine with Vegas 8.0 it just doesn't work with Vegas 8.1 which is exclusively 64 bit.
What format will I have export from Edius for Vegas to encode?
Main Edit System ASUS Z170-Pro, 6700K, 32 gig ram HD Spark, Windows 7 64bit Edius 8.1 (Edit Machine)
2nd System Intel DZ77BH, 3770K, 16 GB ram, Edius 8.1 (ingest and authoring)
3rd system (internet & Printing station)
Yeah, not having a thunking layer for 32-bit codecs is a drag. It's going to be a problem, especially with older codecs like Indeo and Cinepak that may never see a 64-bit version.

NO. Just use Vegas 9 in 32bit mode. You can use HDV or HQ from Edius. I didn't bother upgrading to Vegas 9 as it had nothing in it that I would use and will wait to see what is in Vegas 10!!! Edius will export HQ faster than HDV but Vegas will encode HDV to Bluray faster than it will encode HQ to MPEG HD for DVD Architect. I see no difference in quality so sometime use HDV sometime HQ.
